Application proxy

A mediating application gateway that bridges connections between isolated internal and external networks. An application proxy acts as an intermediary node straddling two environments to enable clients on private networks to securely access external services. It facilitates indirect connectivity by accepting requests originating from behind the firewall, then initiating secondary connections to outbound destinations on behalf of the internal client. After gathering the responses, it relays the results back to the requesting intranet application. This dual-sided proxy model keeps internal assets shielded while still permitting them to leverage authorized external resources.
