A focused review and examination of any component or aspect involved in executing an implementation initiative. This could encompass assessments of:
- The project governance, planning, scheduling and oversight processes
- The testing methodologies, test case design, and validation procedures
- The user acceptance testing approach, scripts, and approval workflows
- The training materials, knowledge transfer, and organizational change management
- The data migration strategies, mapping rules, and cutover plans
- The infrastructure readiness, provisioning, and deployment procedures
- The risk management, issue tracking, and defect resolution protocols
Any discrete phase, activity, artifact or control measure related to the implementation project’s successful rollout is potentially subject to this type of targeted evaluation. The aim is to analyze specific implementation workstreams to identify gaps, risks or areas requiring improved practices to increase the initiative’s likelihood of achieving its objectives.
