Adware

Software that automatically delivers, shows, or downloads advertisements on a computer, typically without the user’s full awareness or consent. Adware may be covertly installed alongside other programs and serve ads while the user interacts with the application. Unlike legitimate advertising-supported software that openly displays non-intrusive ads, adware operates opacity to maximize advertising exposure. It exhibits deceptive behaviors like hiding itself and lacking notifications about its advertising functions. While users may expect ads in free software, adware obscures its advertising-driven motives and revenue model.
