Acknowledgment (ACK)

A signal embedded in a data packet that notifies the sender that the previous packet was received correctly without errors by the intended receiver. Or it indicates that the receiver is now prepared and ready to accept a transmission. An acknowledgement is used to confirm faultless reception or readiness for upcoming transmissions.
